FOURTH IS OUT OF REACH

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that the club's hopes of finishing in the top four this season looks finally over after suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle in the latest midweek action. It has been a tough fixture list for Chelsea over the last few weeks.

It finally took its toll after the club managed to lose the most important match 2-0, while it also handed rivals Newcastle United with a major opportunity to finish in the top four. After the match, in which Petr Cech was beaten by two extraordinary goals from Newcastle United striker Cisse, Cech admitted that finishing in the top four will now be tough with only two matches remaining and five points required to be dropped by two teams.

Chelsea will be facing Liverpool and Blackburn in the final two matches of the season. Since they are now out of the top four place, Petr Cech reckons that the club should now focus on winning the FA Cup final and the Champions League final. Chelsea will be facing archrivals Liverpool in the FA Cup final, while Bayern Munich are the opponents in the Champions League final. Chelsea's only way of qualifying for the Champions League next season would be by winning the trophy itself.

"The chance is small, let's be honest. Tottenham and Newcastle would have to lose both games and we would have to win two. By the fact that both our rivals won [on Wednesday] it has all become a whole lot harder. The first goal was wonderful and the second was even better. He has an enormous self-belief and tries to shoot from all sorts of situations. He hit both shots beautifully and I couldn't do anything about them," Cech said after the 2-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle.
