LAW WELCOMES ROONEY

Dennis Law is fondly remembered as one of the best Manchester United players in the illustrious history of the club. He has lavished praise on the club’s current crop of strikers – Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie – by saying that he would love to play with these players.

Rooney has been the face of United since joining the club in 2004. Even though United parted with a hefty £ 30 million for a teenager, it has since proven one of best pieces of business done by the club. Law scored 237 goals for United and was labelled as the 'The King of Old Trafford' for his exploits.

Law is likely to see Rooney and van Persie in action at the same time this weekend. The two players are likely to start against Manchester City in a highly important match for the club. United appear to have rediscovered their form of old, and a victory in the Manchester derby will help Louis Van Gaal get some much-needed confidence into the team. Rooney has been suspended for the last few matches after getting a straight red card against West Ham. Even though he was seen limping a few days ago, the striker is set to start ahead of Juan Mata. He is likely to play in a number 10 role with van Persie continuing as the sole striker.

“It's an incredible boost to have Rooney back. He and Van Persie are two of the best strikers in the world really. I would love to play with them. I am sure he can (pass my total) it this season. And stay away from injuries he will be the highest scorer in Manchester United's history. United played well and got a good result against Chelsea, but the derby game is another game altogether,” said Law.
