Italian football giants AC Milan have been boosted by the news that Ante Rebic has returned to training in time for him to be part of the squad for the crucial Milan Derby clash with Inter Milan. Milan are the hosts for the Derby dellaMadonninawith Inter at the San Siro on Sunday.

Croatian international Rebic started individual training before he joined his teammates for the remainder of the session. It has been revealed that Milan manager Stefano Pioli will evaluate the condition of the former Eintracht Frankfurt attacker before making a decision on his status for the Inter Milan game. Italian football publication Calciomercato stated that Pioli is optimistic that the player will feature in his squad for the Milan Derby this weekend.

Milan forward Rebic joined the seven-time European champions from Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga in 2019. The Croatian international is in his third season at the San Siro. Rebic spent one season at Frankfurt on the back of starring for Croatia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament on Russian soil, before signing for the Rossoneri. Rebic featured in the World Cup final which ended in a 4-2 loss to France. Rebic and his Croatian teammates were the surprise package at the tournament as they reached the final before losing to the French team.

Rebic has missed the last five Milan games in all competitions due to an ankle injury. However, the injury has cleared up for him to return to the pitch. He has featured ten times for Milan this season in all competitions, netting two goals. Rebic has one goal in the Italian Serie A and one goal in the Champions League.

28-year-old is likely to start the Milan Derby on the substitutes bench with Pioli expected to go for the trio of Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao in the three attacking positions behind Swedish football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the central striker.
