Because less players equal more space to pass and move

Piero Ausilio speaks on the future of three Inter Milan players

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has emphasised that the club have no plans to part ways with Milan Skriniar, Lautaro Martinez or Marcelo Brozovic this summer. The Nerazzurri ended the previous season on a sour note as they missed out on the Europa League title to Sevilla and that had led to suggestions that Antonio Conte could head for the exit door.

However, following a meeting with the club’s hierarchy, Conte was convinced to remain the head coach after receiving the assurance that he would be backed with funds to improve the squad. Amidst this, there has been speculation over the future of Skriniar, Martinez and Brozovic, but Ausilio is quite clear that the trio are not for sale.

He told: “Skriniar is a player we have made the right investment for. He has been with us for three years and has done very well. Recently, maybe, he played less but we will continue to count on him as there are no negotiations ongoing regarding him. I exclude the possibility of seeing Lautaro leaving Inter.
“There was a possibility of activating his clause by July 7th but nothing happened, so the player will remain with us. Brozovic has demonstrated the wrong attitude at certain points throughout the season. Certain situations have in any case been handled internally by the club. He is one of those players on whom we count on.”
The Nerazzurri have not won any major trophy for nine years, but they have shown promise under Conte after making it to the Coppa Italia semi-final and the final of the Europa League. Meanwhile, the club finished just one point behind Serie A champions Juventus on the table and there is a belief that they could end the Bianconeri’s nine-year dominance to clinch the Scudetto next season. For that to happen, however, the club need to bolster the squad further and reports claim that Conte want new players in both full-back positions.
